NATURAL GYPSUM FROM ENGEL – PURE BY NATURE
As a naturally occurring gypsum-anhydrite mineral rock, natural gypsum does not contain any artificial additives or processing residues. Renowned for its purity, it is ideal as a set retarder in the cement industry, natural fertilizer, calcium or sulphate agent and much more. Thanks to its natural properties, our customers can relax in the knowledge that it is contaminant- and pollutant-free and safe for workers and the environment.
Natural gypsum from the Middle Muschelkalk layer of the Ralingen rock formation is a naturally occurring mixture of rocks consisting primarily of gypsum and anhydrite. It was formed over 232 million years ago, when the water in an inland sea located here gradually evaporated. Since then, it has been protected from weathering and impurities by a protective layer of caprock.
At Gipsbergbau Engel, we have been mining high-grade natural gypsum for over seventy years now. We are currently working the Horst-Peter-Stollen drift mine in Ralingen. Underground extraction ensures we keep any current and future environmental impacts to a minimum. The natural gypsum we extract is processed on site before being shipped out.
